CBO: Real U.S. Unemployment at 15%

According to a February 2012 CBO report, the rate of unemployment in the United States has exceeded 8% since February 2009, making the past three years the longest stretch of high unemployment in this country since the Great Depression.  The CBO projects that unemployment will remain above 8% until 2014.

The official unemployment rate excludes those who have not searched for a job in the past four weeks and those who have part-time work but would prefer full-time.  When added, the total unemployment rate in January is 15%.  Read more.
