The EPA Changed the Way it Makes Scientific Decisions to "Sustainable" 

In January 2012, the EPA announced it was "realigning its entire research enterprise around the concept of sustainability."  The new initiative is titled, "The Path Forward." Agency scientists and managers agreed to base their process on "the widely used definition of sustainability as outlined by the Brundtland Commission in 1987..." 

The 1987 Brundtland Commission report, also known as "Our Common Future," stated that the earth was in danger, there was too much poverty and industrialized nations like the US were the cause. According to Brundtland, the only way to protect earth was for powerful central authorites to control all of society, the economy and the environment in an initiative it coined as "sustainable development."

The great mystery of the Great Depression was why it lasted for 14 long years.  UCLA economists Harold Cole and Lee Ohanian spent four years pouring over the data from the Great Depression. "The fact that the Depression dragged on for years convinced generations of economists and policy-makers that capitalism could not be trusted to recover from depressions and that significant government intervention was required..."said Cole.  "Ironically, our work shows that the recovery would have been very rapid had the government not intervened."  

Their report estimates that millions of Americans needlessly stood on breadlines, watered down milk to feed their families and lived in tatters for an additional seven years thanks to FDR's misguided stimulus policies.  Most were so grateful for anything, they never realized the president was the cause of their extended suffering.

FDR won his first two terms by attacking the wealthy and pitting them against poor Americans.  In 1932 he promised to "cut government operations by 25% and lower taxes", but did neither. 

In 1936, he overwhelmingly won by raising taxes on the rich then redistributing the money to larger voting blocks in swing states using the WPA, Silver Purchase Act and the Agricultural Act. 

By 1940, needing businesspeople to win the war, he called for unity among the same people he divided and won another decisive victory. 

In 1944, FDR sidestepped laws prohibiting union money in elections by forming the nation's first Political Action Committee.  This provided urban labor support. Fearing a backlash by Japanese prisoners if released from internment camps, he created an executive order to keep them imprisoned until 3 days after the elections.  To gain the Polish American vote, FDR promised special treatment for Poland after the war.  He won nearly 90% of their vote, and then betrayed the group by failing to offer the promised "self-determination" for Poland at the Yalta conference.  Still, he won a fourth slim victory. 

Upon his death, the NYT wrote, "Men will thank God on their knees 100 years from now FDR was in the White House."!

The Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act of 1953 originated to ensure our coasts would be available for harvesting of minerals and oil drilling. A 1978 amendment reversed the Act by enabling the government to prevent offshore drilling if it even suspected there could be marine damage.  In 2011, a rejected House Bill attempted to amend the law again, this time to forever prohibit all drilling.

Oil is 100% organic and biodegradable.  The 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill would have been naturally cleansed by the calm waters of Prince William Sound, as occurred following the BP Gulf disaster. Instead, sensationalist photos of dying wildlife caused groups to hasten the cleanup using high pressure hoses spraying hot water.  This disturbed and destroyed the coastal microbial organisms necessary to facilitate the biodegradation process making it harder for wildlife to survive.

The Ideal Candidate and the Perfect Party

Imagine a political candidate, who receives little big business financial support, understands the plight of the poor, and promotes free health care.  He praises spending on education and the transfer of inherited wealth to the needy.  Our national hero is a strong defender of the separation of church and state, derides smoking as a health hazard and believes that gun control is the only way to reduce violence.

His party suggests free pensions for the retired to show respect for the elderly, fosters social equity through campus quotas so all students have a fair opportunity to succeed.  This ideal candidate even touts organic and healthy farming methods and is a strong advocate for animal rights.

After running on this populist platform, and with major support from the peasants and the lower middle class, Adolf Hitler and the National Socialist Party rose to power by "consensus" following the death of his predecessor.  His name and party became one of the greatest symbols of tyranny in world history.

The two claim the data clearly shows the economy was poised for recovery but was stalled by misguided policies including artificial stimulus and bolstering of labor's wages.
